Chihuahua puppy
Chihuahua puppy - Pie

9/30/04 - Another Trip To The Oregon Coast
This morning an elderly woman and her daughter came to look at our remaining two puppies. They fell in love with Pie, of course, who loves to melt in your arms. He really will be a great fit for someone who wants a relatively mellow puppy. Plus he's cute as can be with long hair of many colors and little floppy ears. He's about 4 lbs now and might get to be 6 or 7 lbs when he's grown up.

After saying goodbye to Pie, we started packing to go back to the Oregon Coast for another four day decorative painting class. My wife will be sitting with the same Russian teacher, Larisa Goncharova, who was her teacher a couple of weeks ago too. She's looking forward to a new project and getting more experience with the Zhostovo technique.

My wife presented me with some Nikken products she purchased for me today. These include magnetic insoles for my shoes, a seat cushion that has both magnets and infra-red technology and a shoulder brace that is supposed to help heal my bursitis (sp?). It will be interesting to see how much they all help in making me feel better.

It was hard to say goodbye to our big dog again. She'll be all right I'm sure, but will be very lonely for a few days without us. The neighbors will look in on her again. We are bringing two puppies, one horny male and one recovering female (all Chihuahuas) with us on our trip. We we get our RV, even the big dog will be able to come too.

We finally got all packed up and on the road about 3:30 and stopped in McMinnville at Staples to get a couple of things we had forgotten last night. Then we drove to Lincoln City where we had dinner at Roads End Dory Cove Restaurant. The food was great and so was the view of the setting sun over the Pacific. We arrived at the Waves of Newport Motel about 9:00 and got to watch part of the first presidential debate. We thought Kerry looked much better tonight, did you?

10/1/04 - Painting Class #2
Today was a very foggy day out here on the coast. After dropping my wife off at her painting class I drove up the coast looking for something to photograph and getting familiar with our new Trailblazer. Here is a photo of one of the lighthouses I took in the fog. This is the original lighthouse and Yaquina Bay which was only in operation from 1871 to 1874.

We had another delicious dinner at Shirley's on the Historic Waterfront here in Newport (Map) this evening. A little expensive but a real treat.

10/2/04 - Yaquina Bay Lighthouse
I had an important call to make this morning and was dismayed to find that Verizon was blocking my Sprint service. So I wound up using my Qwest calling card to complete the call from my hotel room. The lesson here is not to rely solely on one telephone service. Having a calling card, an Internet phone or some other service like Onstar available, especially while traveling, is important.

It was a beautiful day today and I took a few more photos of the lighthouse I visited yesterday in the fog. This interesting building was restored fairly recently and is a great display of how people lived in the 1800s. Check out these beds and the other old furniture in this three story building.
