Shopping for a New Car

8/29/04 - The New Car Saga Begins
This afternoon we drove to Tigard (Map) and did some shopping and then started our search for a new car to tow behind our new coach. We spent an hour or two test driving a couple of Subarus. We liked the styling of the Outback and the height of the Forester, but neither were really what we were looking for. I think we'll look at some mini-vans and SUVs next.

8/31/04 - A New Gazebo
Today I assembled a large gazebo that we bought a few weeks ago on the deck in our backyard. It went pretty smoothly, except for the moment when part of it almost fell through our back picture window, despite the fact that no instructions came with it. We had purchased it for a slight discount as the floor model, so I had disassembled it at the store. So I had a pretty good idea how it went back together. Of course my wife wanted it turned 90 degrees once she saw it put together. If figures, the odds of me guessing where or how she will want something are certainly no greater than 50-50.

We found a new home for one of our Chihuahuas today. We loved our chocolate brindled girl we named Bliss, but for various reasons she didn't fit into our plans for traveling. We'll miss her but we think her new owners will be very good to her.

9/1/04 - The Sportron Saga Begins
I spent some time talking with a representative of Sportron today. They sell some very innovative products including something to help stabilize blood sugar, which is something I need, considering I'm a type 2 diabetic. I'm considering not only taking the product but joining their network marketing program. The products are a bit pricey, but the compensation is pretty good and I could use a good product line to promote on my various websites. I'll also have plenty of opportunity to promote the products in RV parks across the country. I'm not sure i need something else to do though. My plate is pretty full of other projects.

9/2/04 - Joining Sportron
I decided to go ahead and join the Sportron organization as an All Star today. This level of participation buys me lots of marketing materials, sample products and marketing websites for five years. If I change my mind after taking the product and working the program for a couple of months, I can even get most of my money back.

9/3/04 - Car Search Continues
We continued our search for a new car today, visiting a Chrysler dealer in Beaverton. The PT Cruiser seemed too small and the wife didn't like the Pacifica which I really liked but was a little pricey. Their mini-van was very interesting, but I think we're really looking for an SUV.

9/6/04 - A Good Old Friend Pays Us A Visit
Today we had our first official visitor come to our new home in Oregon. An old friend from Willits, CA came mid afternoon and spent the evening and the night with us. He then continued his journey the next morning, leaving his dog with us for a week while he visited some other people up in Portland. He's a great guy who loves to talk.
